PENANG holds the status as a favoured cruise tourism destination in Malaysia, as it consistently attracts a growing number of cruise liners to its port. State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai said the number of international vessel berths and passenger numbers continued to exhibit an upward trend for January and February in both 2023 and 2024.

Spreading Cheer

SPREADING CHEER: Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) together with Johor Port Authority (JPA) continued their tradition of spreading the festive spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and bringing smiles to those in need around Gelang Patah and Johor Bahru. An estimated 380 recipients including orphans, single mothers, people with disabilities, poverty stricken families, and PDK (community based rehabilitation), benefitted from PTP-JPA Mahabbah Ramadan programme this year.

Northport Sets Record for Bulk Cargo Handling From One Vessel

PETALING JAYA: Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, a member of MMC Group, set a record for highest break bulk cargo handling from a single vessel. The milestone was achieved through the handling of 48,853 freight weight tonnes (FWT) of steel from a conventional cargo vessel, MV Jin Chao, surpassing the previous record of 47,246 FWT handled from MV Wu Yi Hai in May 2022.
