STRIKING SUCCESS AT THE INTER-AGENCIES FRIENDLY BOWLING TOURNAMENT HOSTED BY JOHOR PORT

On 13 July 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, hosted an inter-agencies friendly bowling tournament which electrified the lanes of Daiman Bowl in Johor Jaya with excitement. Organised by the Free Zone & Property Department, this event aimed at strengthening ties with the various Government Agencies through an entertaining and competitive tournament.

The tournament commenced with a ceremonial bowling roll by Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port, alongside Dato’ Monaliza Suhaimi, General Manager of Johor Port Authority (JPA) and Dr Mohd Famey Yusoff, Director of Department of Environment (DOE) of Johor. Their opening rolls set the stage for a thrilling day of strikes and spares.

With over 100 participants from the various Government Agencies battling for cash prizes and coveted trophies, the competition was intense. Some of the various VIPs bowlers who participated include Edie Putra Md Yusoff from MAQIS Johor; Fakhruddin Shariff from Land Office Johor Bahru (PTJB); Azahar Ismail from Custom Department of Pasir Gudang; Badlishah Ahmad from DOE Johor and Mahadir Lokeman from Immigration Department of Johor.

The Johor Port team emerged victorious, scoring a stunning 1,629 points to claim the championship title, along with a cash prize of RM1,500 and a trophy. Close behind was the Majlis Bandaraya Pasir Gudang team, securing second place with 1,609 points and taking home RM1,200 and a trophy. The PTJB team rounded out the top three placing, earning 1562 points and a prize of RM900 together with a trophy.

Individual accolades went to Zamzaily Atan from Johor Port, who was named Best Male Bowler with an impressive 629 points, and Rita Kartini Mahiran, also from Johor Port, who clinched the Best Female Bowler title with 530 points. Each received RM100.00 and a medal for their outstanding performances. Fakhruddin Shariff of PTJB was honoured as the Best VIP Bowler, proudly receiving a Bowling Pin Trophy. All the prizes were given out by the Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port, Md Derick Basir.

The event concluded with a lively lucky draw, where Dato’ Monaliza Suhaimi drew names for fabulous prizes, including the grand prize – a TTRacing Duo V4 Pro Gaming Chair. Participants left with smiles, memories and goody bags, marking the end of a successful and joyous day of fostering companionship and friendly competition.
