On 28 August 2023, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, welcomed YB Datuk Seri Haji Mohamad bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security as part of the Minister’s familiarisation visit to PTP. This working visit was also conducted to witness the import and export operations of the country’s agricultural products by Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS).

Present during the visit were Shamsul Akbar Sulaiman, Director General of MAQIS, Edie Putra Md Yusof, Director of MAQIS Johor, accompanied by Muhammad Abdullah Hatta, Chief Financial Officer of PTP and Prakash Thurairasasingam, Head of Commercial Division of PTP.

The working visit began with a special cross parade and flag-off session at Wisma PTP by MAQIS team in conjunction with the Malaysia 66th Independence Day Celebration.

The Minister and his delegation then continued the agenda by attending a comprehensive presentation by PTP on its business, operational performance, current and future development as well as a briefing by MAQIS on import and export operations of the country’s agricultural products.

The delegates then proceeded to visit PTP Marine Control Tour for a briefing on the Vessel Traffic Movement Information System (VTMIS) and to Central Planning & Performance Office (CPPO) for a briefing on port operations and asset digitisation programme.

During the terminal tour, the Minister was also ushered to PTP Wisma Kastam for a quick inspection of agricultural products and to handover confiscated and forfeited frozen meat products to several zoo operators in the country.

This familiarisation visit was part of PTP’s stakeholder engagement programme, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between PTP and government agencies.
