On 9 February 2023, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, received a familiarisation visit from a delegation representing various international media organised by Maersk.

Led by Rainer Horn, Maersk Senior Press Officer, the visit to PTP was part of a press trip to visit Maersk’s facilities in Southeast Asia, particularly in Singapore as well as to PTP. Various reputable international media namely Bloomberg, CNBC, Llyod’s Lists and several other major news publications from Europe and Singapore were brought to view the progress and performance of such facilities and port terminal.

At PTP, the familiarisation visit began with an in-depth presentation on PTP’s operational performance, the port’s inception and current progress with its on-going development, and the contribution of the port industry towards the nation’s economic growth by Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP.

The delegation was then brought to an extensive terminal for a port and tugboat tour to view the on-going development projects such as the IPSUM MAGNA – Berth Zero Project, ESG – Electrified Rubber Tyred Gantry demonstration as well as the expansion of Pelepas Free Zone Phase 2C development – Tanjung Adang Project.

The familiarisation visit by International Press was part of PTP and Maersk international media engagement programme that aims to showcase the power of Southeast Asia when it comes to logistics and what both PTP and Maersk can offer to their customers the logistics end-to-end solutions.
