On 24 – 27 August 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group recently hosted a dynamic supplier engagement programme centred around Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. Aimed at catalysing PTP’s ESG journey while fostering vendor alignment, and drive sustainable practices throughout the supply chain, the event drew a crowd of nearly 300 participants representing 180 PTP suppliers, contractors, and vendors.

During the officiating ceremony, Mark Hardiman, PTP Chief Executive Officer, emphasised the importance of ESG in PTP’s operations and strategic direction. Also attending the event were Dr Irwana Malek, PTP Head of Supply Chain Division; Khairul Amalin Abd Rahman, Head of Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Sustainability, and several PTP Management team members.

To fully immerse in the ESG practices, PTP welcomed esteemed speakers from the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB), Mr Edey Suresh. During his session, Mr Edey delivered a thought-provoking presentation on ‘From Awareness to Action – The Journey to Become Sustainable’ while Mr Kishan Buxani echoed a similar theme during the second event.

Through the programme, PTP demonstrated its unwavering commitment to sustainable operations and inspired its suppliers to embrace ESG principles. By fostering a shared understanding of ESG concepts and best practices, PTP drives positive change within its supply chain en route to a more sustainable future.
