On 11 January 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, welcomed YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia for the Majlis Beramah Mesra with the employees of PTP and MMC Group in Gelang Patah.

Also present at the visit were YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor, Ministers, State Secretary of Johor, Johor Exco Members, Federal and Johor State Government Officials, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary, Albukhary Foundation and Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Chairman of PTP/Group Managing Director of MMC.

The visit by the YAB Prime Minister started with a presentation on PTP’s Business Overview and Development Updates by Marco Neelsen, Advisor of PTP, followed by a special briefing by Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, MMC Group Managing Director on the proposed Sungai Pulai Integrated Maritime Development.

The programme continued with the YAB Prime Minister attending the Majlis Beramah Mesra with the employees of PTP and MMC Group at Wisma B PTP. During his speech in front of an approximately 500 strong audience, the Prime Minister stressed he is optimistic MMC Group and PTP can remain competitive and continue to contribute positively to the Malaysian economy especially to the state of Johor.

YAB Prime Minister also described the achievements of PTP as an extraordinary success at the international stage, becoming among the three major ports in Southeast Asia as well as being ranked 15th in the list of major ports in the world in over 20 years.

The visit concluded on a high note with a private terminal tour for the YAB Prime Minister hosted by YBhg Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary.
