PTP AND JPA ASSIST RESIDENTS OF OLD FOLKS HOME
From 2 until 4 February 2021, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, together with Johor Port Authority (JPA) conducted a donation drive to assist residents of Rumah Seri Kenangan, an old folks home in Johor Bahru as part of both organisations’ continuous corporate social responsibility programme involving the community.
Rumah Seri Kenangan was recently identified as one of the positive COVID-19 clusters in Johor Bahru (Jalan Ithnin Cluster) after more than 70 residents, including employees were identified positive. The entire old folks home was placed under immediate quarantine and has obstructed the residents’ access to necessities such as food, hygienic kits and others.
In response to this, PTP and JPA organised a donation drive from employees and successfully raised over RM12,000.00 fund and it was used to provide care packages to the residents of Rumah Seri Kenangan. The care packages consist of dry food items such as rice, cooking oil, biscuit, canned sardines as well as hygiene kits such as hand sanitisers, face masks, toothbrush and adult diapers were handed over to Wan Zalina Wan Ismail, Warden Officer of Rumah Seri Kenangan under strict adherence to the standard operation procedure to ensure the safety of all parties involved.
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect people’s lives, PTP remains committed in giving back to the community. The strong support and the sense of camaraderie amongst the employees together with the committee Surau At Taqwa in rallying effort to collect a significant amount of donation within a very short period is reflection of PTP’s caring, generous and kind-hearted employees to help fellow Malaysians in need.
