PORT OF TANJUNG PELEPAS AND JOHOR PORT AUTHORITY CONTINUE TRADITION TO SPREAD HARI RAYA JOY TO LOCAL COMMUNITY

On 29 March 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, and Johor Port Authority (JPA) collaborated in bringing the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri to the underprivileged communities surrounding the port through their annual Mahabbah Ramadan programme.

Held at PTP, the Mahabbah Ramadan, is part of PTP’s broader Corporate Social Investment, the Kasih Lestari Programme which aims to bridge the socio-economic gap faced by underprivileged groups residing within the Gelang Patah and Johor Bahru area.

This year, approximately 250 individuals from orphanages, single-parent households, people with disabilities, and low-income families benefitted from the programme. Each recipient received a special care package with essential ingredients for a joyous Hari Raya feast, including sugar, flour, glutinous rice, dried noodles, spices, and instant ketupat. Additionally, they were presented with Mydin vouchers worth RM100 each, as well as an assortment of kuih raya.

The program was graced by the presence of Datuk Pandak Ahmad, ADUN Kota Iskandar as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Mark Hardiman, CEO of PTP, representatives from the Management of Johor Port Authority, Johor Bahru District Office, Penghulu, Ketua-Ketua Kampung and amongst others.

At the opening of Mahabbah Ramadan, PTP also welcomed 40 underprivileged children of Rumah Fitrah Qaseh and Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Nusajaya in a buka puasa event at its premises.

The event showcased an array of activities, providing children with the opportunity to enjoy the company of PTP’s volunteers and explore the port during an engaging tour. A highlight for many was the visit to the port’s fire and rescue station, where the children experienced being junior firefighters for a day. Additionally, the children participated in mini-games, arts and crafts activities with PTP’s volunteers, all leading up to the evening iftar.

PTP has been conducting its Ramadan and Raya giveaway for more than 16 years, often with collaboration from various local community leaders and residents, with its primary aim to deliver necessary assistance and ease the burden of the needy in the surrounding communities where PTP operates.
