PERKESO LAUNCHES PTP FIT-PORT, A PREVENTION AND DISABILITY MANAGEMENT CENTRE

On 21 September 2023, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, together with Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) launches Fit-Port, a prevention and disability management centre located at the Ground Floor of Block B, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas, Gelang Patah.

The official launching was graced by Dr Azlan bin Darus, PERKESO’s Head of Prevention, Medical and Rehabilitation Department. Also in attendance were Marco Neelsen, PTP Chief Executive Officer as well as several senior management members of both PTP and PERKESO.

Operating on weekdays from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm, the rehabilitation centre is a collaboration between PTP and PERKESO as part of the many collaboration initiatives agreed upon during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in early May 2019.

Aimed at providing rehabilitation services and promoting a healthy lifestyle to PTP employees and members of PERKESO within Malaysia’s Southern region, the centre is equipped with various state-of- the-art rehabilitation equipment, with a comprehensive physical rehabilitation programme and well-structured physiotherapy and rehabilitation module to promote, maintain, and restore functions and movements to maximise physical movements.

Aside from the facilities, 30 PTP employees were also trained by PERKESO as coordinators, where six were selected to be part of the Return-To-Work (RTW) Coordinator Master Trainers of the programme. The RTW Programme is a comprehensive systematic disability case management programme which provides an opportunity for employees to resume employment and reintegrate back into society. As of FY2022, 72% of PTP’s rehabilitated staff have returned to work, whereas 18% are progressively undergoing treatment at the centre.

PTP is committed to fulfilling its obligations as a caring employer through actively promoting occupational safety policies, conducting safety and health campaigns to reduce accident rates, and implementing employees’ wellness programme to prevent mishaps to the workers and contractors.
