On 30 November 2023, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, received a working visit from YDH CP Dato’ Hussein Omar Khan, Selangor Police Chief, along with the Senior Management team of the Selangor Police Contingent of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The delegation was received by Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport. Accompanying the Selangor Police Chief during the working visit were YDH DCP Dato’ Sasikala Devi A/P Subramaniam, Deputy Selangor Police Chief, YDH SAC Abdul Ghani Ahmad, Head of Management Department; YDH SAC Baharudin Mat Taib, Head of Crime Investigation Department; YDH SAC Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain, Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department; YDH ACP Mohamed Izzani Abdul Halim, Deputy Head of Special Branch and YDH Supt Kee Hang Kee, Head of Internal Security and Public Order Department. Also present during the visit were officers from the North Klang District Police Headquarters led by YDH ACP Vijaya Rao A/L Samachulu, North Klang District Police Chief, representatives from the Port Klang Authority and the Senior Management team of Northport.

The objectives of this working visit were to discuss issues related to port operations in Port Klang. These issues included measures to combat smuggling, the handling of hazardous materials and other container operation matters. The Selangor Police reaffirmed their commitment to work with Northport to combat crime, especially within the port area. The close cooperation with PDRM was one of the contributing factors to Northport being announced as the recipient of the Anugerah Perdana Penarafan Bintang Sasaran Penting 2023, under the Key Point ll category, after achieving the highest overall score in the security audit conducted by the Key Point Auditing Team.

During the visit, the Selangor Police Chief’s delegation was briefed by Dato’ Azman on Northport’s port operations and taken on a tour around Northport for an in-depth experience of the port’s operations and facilities. The delegation also visited the perimeter around Northport aboard a Marine Police boat.
