On 17 August 2023, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group received a visit from the Malaysian Association of Local Authorities (MALA). The visit to Northport was part of MALA’s Committee Meeting programme hosted by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK).

A total of 77 delegations, including Mayors, Presidents and Senior Officers representing various Local Authorities (PBT) in Malaysia, were present during the visit. The delegation was greeted by Northport’s Management team, led by Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport.

During the visit, the MALA delegation received a briefing on the port’s operations and the “Reinventing Northport” initiative from Dato’ Azman. They were then taken on an informative tour of Northport, providing them with a comprehensive insight of the port’s operations and state-of-the-art facilities. This visit served as a valuable platform for fostering stronger connections between local authority bodies and the port operator.

MALA was founded in the year 2000 with its membership comprising various local authorities in Malaysia, including City Halls, Councils, Municipal Councils and District Councils. The primary mission of MALA is to serve as the overarching organisation that coordinates and facilitates various activities among PBT in Malaysia.
