NORTHPORT PROMOTES INTEGRITY PRACTICES AT THE MARITIME ANTI-CORRUPTION NETWORK SEMINAR

On 22 October 2024, representing Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport, participated in a CEO Panel Session titled ‘Tackling Corruption in the Port & Maritime Sector: Learnings from Malaysia’ during the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network Seminar.

The seminar, organised by the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), was held in Kuala Lumpur from 22 to 24 October 2024. The event brought together over 150 participants, including vessel operators, compliance professionals, representatives from protection and indemnity clubs and key industry stakeholders.

During the event, the ‘Port Integrity Campaign at Port Klang’ was also launched. This initiative aimed to empower port agents and maritime stakeholders to reject unethical demands. Along with the structure, the campaign also highlighted its goal of fostering a zero-tolerance stance towards corruption within the port and maritime sector.

Featured as one of the speakers in a panel discussion, Dato’ Azman Shah shared how Northport has been integrating anti-corruption measures into its strategic priorities. Among other distinguished panelists were Captain K. Subramaniam, General Manager of Port Klang Authority and Zahid Osman, President & Group Chief Executive Officer of MISC Berhad. The discussion was moderated by Martin Benderson, Chief Partnership Officer of MACN.

The CEO Panel Session showcased strategic leadership, collaboration and structured initiatives aimed at building a cleaner and more accountable maritime sector. Through the company’s participation in the event, Northport reinforced its role as a leader in promoting integrity and driving positive change within Malaysia’s maritime industry.
