NORTHPORT CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN ITS COMMITMENT TOWARDS ESG THROUGH 3R PROGRAM

From 28 November until 2 December 2022, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group continued to strengthen its commitment towards environmental protection through the Company’s 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) programme known as “Ayuh Kitar Semula” (AKS). The seventh series of AKS or AKS 7.0 held in conjunction with Northport HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) Day 2022, was part of Northport’s comprehensive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework and initiatives.

Northport’s annual 3R programme is organised with the objective to raise awareness of conserving the environment among its employees through reducing, reusing and recycling used materials. TeamNorthport played their part by participating in the programme with the collection of recyclables such as paper products, plastics, metal waste, aluminium, electronic waste, used cooking oil and other recyclable items.

AKS 7.0 has successfully collected more than 16 tonnes of recyclables throughout the campaign. Similar to the previous series of AKS, Northport also recognised the highest contributors of recyclables. For the division/department category, Container Department emerged as the overall winner with a total collection of 5 tonnes. Meanwhile, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport retained his individual category title for the seventh consecutive time with 516 kg of recyclables.

Northport’s AKS 7.0 programme was held in partnership with Alam Flora Environmental Solutions Sdn Bhd (AFES), a fully owned subsidiary of Alam Flora Sdn Bhd under the Malakoff Corporation Berhad.

During the visit, Nilesh Timbadia, Head of Information & Technology Division and Adnan El Yacoubi, Head of Operation Execution Department delivered a comprehensive presentation on PTP’s latest operational performances, the port’s progress and its on-going development and contribution of the port industry towards the nation’s economic sustainability. Before ending the visit, the delegation preceded for a port tour to see PTP container terminal and Free Zone Area.

The working visit by the delegation of Patrick Terminal, Australia was an important stakeholder engagement that aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between PTP with other port terminals globally through knowledge and experience sharing, and best practices of port operations.
