From 12 to 15 September 2023, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group participated in the 19th Malaysia International Halal Showcase 2023 (“MIHAS 2023”). The event, which was held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (“MITEC”) Kuala Lumpur, had attracted more than 1,900 exhibitors from 44 countries.

MIHAS 2023 was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim with the theme ‘Paving the Way of Halal’, which signify the importance in promoting the Halal industry’s growth and potential on a global stage.

Northport’s participation in MIHAS 2023 was under the Selangor Pavilion, led by Halal International Selangor (“HIS”). Several other companies and agencies also participated under Selangor Pavilion, including Port Klang Free Zone, Invest Selangor Berhad, Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (“JAIS”) and other SMEs operating in Selangor.

During the 4-day event, a variety of programs were organised including seminars and pocket talks. Northport’s Head of Logistics and Free Zone Service, Encik Mohamad Ali Abdul Hussain, shared insights on ‘Halal Silk Route and Integrated Value Chain in Malaysia’.

Northport’s participation in MIHAS 2023 was aimed to leverage an opportunity to connect, network and learn from Halal industry players. It is also to create business potential for Northport’s Halal Silk Route initiative by attracting prospective customers from local and abroad.
