NORTHPORT CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF PORT OPERATIONS WITH BOWLING TOURNAMENT

SUBANG JAYA, 27 JULY 2023 – In celebration of the momentous 60th anniversary of North Port’s operations, its operator, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, hosted the 15th edition of the Northport Bowling Challenge 2023 at Sunway Mega Lanes in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya. The tournament brought together 45 teams comprising Northport’s esteemed customers from its various business segments. This event was part of a series of programs planned by Northport to celebrate the 60th anniversary of port operations in North Port which was originally named North Klang Straits berths before being renamed North Port in 1967.

“This year’s bowling event holds special significance as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of North Port’s operations. As the port operator, we take immense pride in fostering lasting relationships with our customers through engaging in sporting activities such as this,” said Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport, expressing his delight on the overwhelming response from the participating teams.

The Northport Bowling Challenge 2023 served as a platform to strengthen the bond between the port and its customers, fostering a sense of mutual respect and appreciation. The event also celebrated the trust, partnership and the unwavering support from Northport’s customers, that have been the driving force behind the company’s success.

The bowling tournament saw thrilling competition in both the Team and Individual categories. Proton Holdings Berhad emerged as the champion in the Team category. Wan Hai Lines (M) Sdn. Bhd and Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd secured second and third positions, respectively. Proton’s victory was particularly remarkable as they defended their title from the previous year, cementing their dominance in this annual tournament.

In the Individual categories, Dolkeple Salikin of NS BlueScope Malaysia Sdn Bhd claimed victory in the Men’s category while, Norita Jaafar from Proton Holdings Berhad scored the highest pinfall to claim a well-deserved win in the Women’s category.

Northport Bowling Challenge 2023 is a testament to Northport’s dedication to its customers and the industry. Beyond the strikes and spares, it was a celebration of unity, camaraderie, and shared values, reminding everyone present of the immense value of collaboration, inclusivity and togetherness in business and beyond.
