KTMB MMC Cargo Sdn Bhd (“KTMB MMC Cargo”), in collaboration with MMC Ports, is a company responsible for the development and operations of the rail freight business.
They manage the link between shipping liners, freight forwarders and the railway operating company known as Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (“KTMB”), as well as provide an Inter-Terminal Transfer (“ITT”) movement of containers by rail. This is done at a competitive rate that links up with road hauliers for a full door-to-door service.
To date, KTMB MMC Cargo has successfully completed the shipment of 100 TEUs worth of laden containers from Port Klang to Johor Port Berhad and 120 TEUs worth of empty containers from Port of Tanjung Pelepas to Port Klang. Since June 2014, a fixed and Regular Block Train ITT service has been operating twice on a weekly basis, with a train frequency of 5 days per week.
