JOHOR PORT HOSTS VISIT FOR PORT OF TANJUNG PELEPAS’S ASPIRING YOUNG TALENT APPRENTICES

On 11 July 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, had the pleasure of hosting an enthusiastic group of young apprentices from Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) for an immersive visit aimed at deepening their understanding on the operations of a Multi-Purpose Port.

Nurazimah Biden, representing the Learning & Development of Human Capital Management at PTP, arrived with 13 apprentices ready to learn and dive into the operations of Johor Port. The visit kicked off with an engaging briefing session led by Juhaimi Hashim, Head of Container Department, who expertly answered many questions from the apprentices.

The next stop was the JCT Control Room, where the apprentices got a firsthand look at the intricate process of the Container Operations. Following this, they were treated to a panoramic photography session on the rooftop of Wisma Kontena, capturing the scenic view of the Container Yard and part of Johor Port Free Zone area.

The highlight of the visit was a tour of the Bulk & Break Bulk Terminal (BBT) operations area. Here, the group received in-depth briefings from Captain Mohamad Taufiq Abdul Latiff, with assistance from Aqashah Johari Luqman, on the day-to-day operations of BBT. This hands-on experience provided the apprentices with valuable insights into the nuances of conventional cargo operations, a stark contrast to the containerised cargoes and transhipment operations they were familiar with at PTP.

By the end of the tour, the apprentices left with knowledge about the multi-purpose port operations, particularly the distinctive aspects of handling conventional cargoes.
