On 9 September 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, successfully convened the Group Internal Audit Roundtable Meeting (GIARM) 03/2024, bringing together Head of Group Internal Audit, Head of Internal Audit Departments and Internal Auditors from across the MMC Group of Companies namely, MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC), Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, Penang Port Sdn Bhd, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, Gas Malaysia Berhad, Malakoff Corporation Berhad and Alam Flora Sdn Bhd. The GIARM was chaired by Lim Lee Tin, Head of Internal Audit Department, Johor Port.

The quarterly GIARM served as a strategic platform for discussions on key governance matters and updates within the MMC Group. Among the prominent topics were the updates on the Internal Audit Charter, aligning it with the newly issued Global Internal Audit Standard by the Institute of Internal Auditors, and revision of the Whistleblower Policy. These updates, shared by Nisham Wijee, Head of Group Internal Audit at MMC, aim to strengthen the internal control environment and ensure greater transparency and accountability across the MMC Group.

In addition, the session also fostered knowledge sharing among participants, which included a special talk on ESG from the Johor Port perspective, presented by Mohamad Syafiq Sarkawi, from Corporate Planning and Risk Management, Johor Port, and a knowledge sharing session by Siti Nazirah Mohamed Nazir, Head of Internal Audit Northport, who shared insights on best practices, emerging trends, and recent audit experiences.

The GIARM continues to play a crucial role in fostering collaboration and ensuring the consistent application of best practices across the MMC Group of Companies. The next roundtable meeting is scheduled for December 2024.
