On 28th August 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, recently welcomed a group of students and teachers from SMK Taman Kluang Barat for an educational visit aimed at providing insights into Port Operations, Logistics and career opportunities in the Maritime Industry. The visit reflects Johor Port’s commitment in engaging with the community and nurturing the next generation of talent.

An interactive session that covered topics such as Port Management, Safety Protocols and the importance of Logistics in global trade was conducted by Shamsornahar Md Noor of Johor Port Skills Centre. This session was aimed at enhancing the students’ understanding of the Maritime Industry. Information about various career paths within the Port and Logistics Sectors were also shared, highlighting opportunities in Engineering, Operations and Management; and the students were also encouraged to consider careers in this dynamic field.

The visitors were then given a guided tour of Johor Port’s key facilities including the Container Terminal and Bulk & Breakbulk Terminal. The tour provided a firsthand look at the Port’s daily operations and the technology that drives efficient cargo handling.

The visit concluded with a group photo and the presentation of souvenirs to commemorate the educational experience. This visit from SMK Taman Kluang Barat is part of Johor Port’s ongoing efforts under the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to connect with the community and inspire young minds. By opening its doors to students, Johor Port hopes to foster interest in the Maritime Industry and contribute to the development of future leaders in Port Logistics and Trade.
