JOHOR PORT CONTRIBUTES RM3 MILLION TO THE UTM ENDOWMENT FUND

KONTENA NASIONAL BERHAD EXPANDS ITS FLEET WITH THE ADDITION OF 30 NEW PRIME MOVERS

Kontena Nasional Berhad received 30 units of Volvo’s FM440 6×2 T RAS prime movers from Volvo Trucks Malaysia in a fleet expansion and modernisation move.

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 Sep 2019 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port) for its contribution of RM3 million to the UTM Endowment Fund at Dewan Nilam, UTM, Kuala Lumpur.

Signing on behalf of UTM were YBhg Professor Datuk Ir Dr Wahid Omar, Vice Chancellor of UTM and Professor Dr Shamsul Sahibuddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor of UTM Kuala Lumpur while Johor Port were represented by YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Chairman of Johor Port and Shahrull Allam Shah Bin Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port. Also present during the event, YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, Chairman of UTM Endowment Trustee Committee, YBhg Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang, Member of UTM Endowment Trustee Committee, senior management team from MMC Corporation Berhad and Johor Port as well as UTM senior officers.

During his speech, YBhg Professor Ir Dr Wahid commended and appreciated Johor Port’s continuous effort in helping UTM. Prior to this MoA, Johor Port previously has contributed RM5 million to the fund in 2013. The contribution was part of the RM20 million fund gained by UTM that has been distributed to assist needy students. To date, 680 students received scholarships, 200 students received monetary aid and 300 students were benefitted with free food support from the endowment fund.

YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib in his speech praised UTM’s initiative for the establishment of the UTM Endowment Fund and believed that it plays a significant role in the development of academic leadership. MMC Group, through its operating companies, will always support such effort in strengthening the talent development programme at the higher learning institution in this country.
