JOHOR PORT CONTRIBUTES ESSENTIAL SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO THE UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS

JOHOR BAHRU, 13 April 2023 – Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, rolled out its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Jom Ke Sekolah Programme by contributing school supplies and financial aid to 100 primary school students in Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Cendana and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Pasir Putih, in line with the start of the 2023 academic year.

With the objective of lightening the financial burden of families with low household income, the provision of brand-new school bag and stationery supplies will enable these children to embark on their new academic year confidently. School representatives were also present at their respective schools to receive the contributions from Johor Port.

Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port said, “We hope that by providing students with these essential school supplies through the Programme, we can help set them up for success.”

“We understand the importance for students to be equipped with the classroom essentials to not only help them stay in school, but to thrive in their respective classrooms as well.”

“Johor Port’s focus in giving back to the community will help to empower the lives of the younger generations and strengthen the already good relationship with the community,” he said, adding that the Company will play its part in ensuring that the underprivileged students will not be left behind.

Johor Port’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative focuses on giving back to the communities especially in the areas where it operates, in order to facilitate the growth of the local socio-economy.

Johor Port has always been supportive of underprivileged students and has helped and contributed to numerous schools in the Pasir Gudang area through the Jom Ke Sekolah Programme since 2018 and will continue to help more students in the future.

As a caring organisation, Johor Port remains committed to being socially responsible in the long run.
