JOHOR PORT BERHAD WINS GPAS 2024 AWARD, COMMITTED IN GREEN PORT OPERATIONS

KONTENA NASIONAL BERHAD EXPANDS ITS FLEET WITH THE ADDITION OF 30 NEW PRIME MOVERS
Kontena Nasional Berhad received 30 units of Volvo’s FM440 6×2 T RAS prime movers from Volvo Trucks Malaysia in a fleet expansion and modernisation move.
KOTA KINABALU, 29 October 2024 – Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, is proud to announce its acceptance of the Green Port Award System 2024 (GPAS 2024 Award), a prestigious accolade recognizing excellence in environmental and sustainable port operations. This esteemed award, endorsed by the APEC Port Services Network (APSN) Council, highlights Johor Port’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation in port operations and distinguishes the Port as a leading player in Green and efficient logistics within the region.
The GPAS Evaluation Committee assessed applicants using a rigorous criterion as specified in the Implementation Plan for GPAS-2020 and the Guide to GPAS Expert Evaluation. Johor Port’s Green initiatives had met the high standards set for this recognition, affirming the Port’s environmental initiatives and adherence to best practices in line with the global movement towards sustainable development in Maritime logistics.
The award was formally presented by Director General of Marine, Tuan Haji Dickson bin Dollah, Malaysia Marine Department at the APSN Forum on Green Shipping Corridors, held from October 24 to 25, 2024, at Le Meridien in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and attended by representatives from Johor Port. This distinguished event has drawn together various Maritime and Logistics industry leaders to discuss on sustainable and environmentally conscious practices in the shipping and port sectors.
Johor Port has implemented a comprehensive Green strategy that prioritizes energy efficiency, the adoption of renewable energy resources, air pollution monitoring, effective waste management, sustainable water practices, the electrification of equipment and green landscape maintenance within the Port.
Commenting on the Award, Md Derick Basir, the Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port stated, “This accolade reflects Johor Port’s unwavering commitment to creating a sustainable and eco-friendly Operational environment, in line with Malaysia’s goals for Green innovation and the global Maritime industry’s objectives for environmental stewardship. We are deeply honored by this recognition and will continue to lead the way in sustainable practices across our Operations.”
As a GPAS 2024 Award recipient, Johor Port reinforces its mission to drive environmental sustainability and operational excellence in Southeast Asia’s port sector, setting new benchmarks for Green logistics in the region.
