On 22 June 2023, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port) and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), members of MMC Group, attended the Johor Business and Investment Forum: Maju Johor 2030 – Powering Johor into the New Economy, held at DoubleTree by Hilton, Johor Bahru.

Officiated by YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor who also delivered a keynote address on “Maju Johor 2030 – Powering Johor into the New Economy”, in making Johor more resilient, inclusive and sustainable, while leveraging on technology and talent to power the state into the next phase of economic development.

YBhg Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad was among the distinguished panellists to share his insights about the emerging growth drivers in Johor and abundant opportunities available to businesses in the evolving landscape, together with Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Southern Region, MSC Cyberport, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Richwood Ventures Berhad, and Biocon Malaysia.

At the same forum, both Johor Port, represented by Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer and PTP, represented by Prakash Thurairasasingam, Head of Commercial were invited to be speakers deliberating on the topic – Maritime, Logistics and Supply Chain.

Organised by the Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific together with the Iskandar Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Johor and MICCI, the forum brought together Government leaders, private sector and civil society under one roof for a healthy discourse on shaping the future of Johor economic development.
