MMC PORTS AND NORTHPORT APPOINT NEW CEOs

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 December 2024 – MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd (“MMC Ports”), a member of MMC Group, recently announced the appointment of Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof as its new Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”), effective 1st December 2024.

Dato’ Azman, 55, has more than 30 years of experience that includes investment analysis, corporate finance, corporate strategy, business development and port management. Prior to this appointment, Dato’ Azman served as the CEO of Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”) since 2016. He holds several notable positions, including Chairman of Port Klang Cruise Terminal Sdn Bhd, Director of Klang Port Management Sdn Bhd and Director of Northport Distripark Sdn Bhd.

Dato’ Azman also serves as the current Vice President of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), Council Member and Deputy Treasurer of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), Executive Committee Member of the Malaysian Biomass Industries Confederation (MBIC) and President of the London School of Economics Alumni Society of Malaysia, among others.

With Dato’ Azman’s transition to MMC Ports, Northport, one of the ports under MMC Ports, has announced the appointment of Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin as its new CEO effective 1 December 2024, to fill the position vacated by Dato’ Azman. Northport also announced the appointment of G. Ulaganathan as its Chief Operating Officer (“COO”), effective the same date.

Fakhrul Azhar, 48, brings 25 years of extensive experience in the port and logistics industry. Prior to this appointment, he served as the General Manager of the Terminal Operations Division at Northport. Meanwhile, G. Ulaganathan, 57, has a distinguished career spanning 28 years in the same industry. Prior to his new role, he was the Senior General Manager of Commercial and Logistics Services at Northport.

MMC Ports is Malaysia’s largest port operator and is a wholly owned subsidiary of MMC Corporation Berhad. MMC Ports is a holding company for its subsidiaries that operate five ports across Peninsular Malaysia, namely Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Johor Port in Johor, Northport in Selangor, Penang Port in Penang and Tanjung Bruas Port in Melaka.
