On 5 February 2021, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration. For this Lunar New Year, the Company distributed essential food items to the families of Northport’s deceased employees and underprivileged Chinese community around Klang and Port Klang.

Essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, cookies and mandarin oranges were distributed to help these deserving families for their Chinese New Year preparation. Despite the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO), Northport continued the tradition of giving back to the community with strict compliance to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), to ensure the safety of both Northport representatives and the recipients.

This CSR programme is part of Northport’s initiatives to reach out to the community to reflect its commitment as a responsible corporate organisation. The programme was also held to instill the feeling of togetherness and unity among multi-racial Malaysians in celebrating the festivities of different cultures and religion.
