PORT OF TANJUNG PELEPAS TEAMS UP WITH JOHOR STATE GOVERNMENT TO ENRICH LOCAL COMMUNITY

KONTENA NASIONAL BERHAD EXPANDS ITS FLEET WITH THE ADDITION OF 30 NEW PRIME MOVERS

Kontena Nasional Berhad received 30 units of Volvo’s FM440 6×2 T RAS prime movers from Volvo Trucks Malaysia in a fleet expansion and modernisation move.

Ulu Tiram, 8 March 2019 – Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) a member of MMC Group together with Johor State Executive Chairman of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transportation, YB Mazlan Bujang continue to spread the spirit of goodwill to the local community by distributing food packages to more than 300 less fortunate families in Kampung Felda Ulu Tebrau, Tiram, Johor.

The activity is part of CSR based collaboration effort by both parties aimed at improving the livelihood, health and economic status of under privileged in urban areas within the Johor Bahru area.

The distribution of aid was made during a get together function between YB Mazlan Bujang with first generation Felda settlers held at Kampung Felda Ulu Tebrau Community Hall, Ulu Tiram.

The food packages were presented in the form of hampers that contained items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar and canned food.

During the handover ceremony, YB Mazlan Bujang remarked that Johor State Government through his portfolio undertakes various activities to engage and serve the underprivileged in various locations across Johor.

“The people receiving the food aid today are those coming from below-average income, single mothers as well as grandparents who have to single-handedly provide for their grandchildren.

“The state government is very serious in ensuring that the fate of the community is well taken care off. We will introduce various other initiatives to ease the burden of the cost of living, especially of those involving the Felda community in Johor.”

PTP Chief Executive Officer, Marco Neelsen remarked that corporate responsibility exists in every aspect of PTP’s business and operations. Its focus is aligned towards developing sustainable communities through shared value creation for all including women, children, indigenous people and local communities.

“We will continue our efforts to support such meaningful initiatives, especially those championed by the state government as they form the basis of a caring community with the aim to establish a better future for those in need” added him.

Martirah Binti M. Rasdi, a single mother from Kampung Felda Ulu Tebrau and one of the recipients of programme said she was grateful to receive the food packages.

“This assistance was highly meaningful for the whole family especially looking at the rising cost of living. My family struggles to make ends meet sometimes, so our burden is lessened when we receive these items.”

“I am also grateful for the state government and PTP for their effort today. I hope such program can continue from time to time as it will not only help the villagers’ wellbeing but also strengthen the relationship between the people, corporate entity as well as the state government” she said.
