KONTENA NASIONAL BERHAD EXPANDS ITS FLEET WITH THE ADDITION OF 30 NEW PRIME MOVERS

Kontena Nasional Berhad received 30 units of Volvo’s FM440 6×2 T RAS prime movers from Volvo Trucks Malaysia in a fleet expansion and modernisation move.

ISKANDAR PUTERI, 2 Jan 2019 – A total of 270 primary and secondary underprivileged students from primary and secondary schools within the Iskandar Puteri area were chosen to receive the school supplies under Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP)’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) education initiative, Back To School Program 2019.

The presentation ceremony of the school uniforms and supplies to students was officiated at the Gelang Patah Community Hall. Also present were YB Sr. Dzulkefly Bin Ahmad, Johor State EXCO of Housing & Rural Development and Iskandar Puteri Assemblyman, YB Mazlan Bin Bujang, Johor State EXCO in Public Works, Infrastructure and Transportation and Puteri Wangsa Assemblyman, YB Senator Ir Md Nasir Bin Hashim, Senate Parliamentary Member, representative from Johor Bahru District Education Office, PTP Senior Management Team, school principals, teachers and parents of students involved in the programme.

Speaking after the event, YB Sr. Dzulkefly Bin Ahmad remarked, “Education creates empowerment and it is the catalyst for upward social mobility. As such, it is encouraging to see a dynamic and leading corporate company like PTP giving opportunities to these underprivileged students to pursue their education in most comfortable manner as well as continuously enriching its surrounding communities via other CSR based activities.”

“This is in line with the aspiration of Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad to see more industry players to be more active in helping to alleviate the level of education as to create human capital that is capable of taking Malaysia to achieve a developed nation status and become a ‘world tiger’.” added him.

According to Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP, “The goal of the Back to School programme is to provide families with the assistance needed to enable their children to continue attending their lessons at school. It is also to alleviate the parents’ burden of providing essential school necessities.”

“In providing these children with access to education, we hope to open up more opportunities for them to grow and develop and that they will, in turn, give back to their families and community in the future.”

For Ahmad Albar Bin Safar, 15, the donation could not have come at a better time as he looked forward to starting the new school year in style.

“I am excited to start the new school term. The school pack definitely helps to reduce my family’s burden for the coming school year.”

This year marks the 12th year anniversary since PTP first organized the Back to School Program in 2007.

Apart from the Back To School Program, PTP also pro-actively organizes various other CSR programmes such as English Tuition, English Boot Camp, English Communication Workshop, and Motivational Talks for UPSR & SPM students as well as Career Insight Program, involving selected local university students from various maritime studies such as the Maritime Management Studies, Nautical Science and Maritime Technology Applied Science.
