JOHOR PORT ORGANISES WEBINAR ON ANTI-BRIBERY AND ANTI-CORRUPTION
On 29 September 2021, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, organised a webinar on Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
With the theme ‘Combatting Corruption – the Role of Employers and Corporate Companies’, the webinar was participated by more than 200 participants from Johor Port’s employees, Government agencies and industry players which was broadcasted through Zoom and supported by Facebook Live.
Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port delivered the keynote speech in which he reiterated the company’s commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, accountability and professionalism in conducting its businesses throughout its operations and subsidiaries.
Dato’ Haji Azmi bin Haji Alias, Director of MACC Johor was invited as a speaker for the webinar where he explained on the various type of corruptions and its consequences to individual, company and the nation during the one-hour session. He also thoroughly explained the Section 17A of the MACC Act on the Corporate Liability that came into effect on 1 June 2020.
Johor Port adopted a zero-tolerance approach on bribery and corruption and has put in place the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy and Framework that set out the responsibilities of Johor Port in observing and upholding the company’s position on bribery and corruption. Johor Port is committed to continue preventing and combating corruption in all its dealings in ensuring ethical business conduct and professionalism wherever Johor Port operates.
