The Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke participated in the final phase of testing for the line MRT Putrajaya Line (MRT2)

On 7 January 2023, the Minister of Transport, Yang Berhormat Anthony Loke participated in the MRT Putrajaya Line (MRT2) test run which was part of the final phase of testing for the line that was under the regulation of Land Transport Agency.

Yang Berhormat Anthony Loke together with his delegation, Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim, Chief Executive Officer of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRTC); Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad; Dato’ Ir Ha Tiing Tai, Deputy Group Managing Director of Gamuda Berhad; Dato’ Amiruddin Ma’aris, Project Director for Putrajaya Line of MRTC as well as the media boarded a train from Putrajaya Sentral station to Kwasa Damansara.
The MRT2 is the second Mass Rapid Transit line in Malaysia, and the third fully automated and driverless rail system in region. The line stretches from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya and runs through densely populated areas such as Sri Damansara, Kepong, Batu, Jalan Ipoh, Sentul, Kampung Baru, Jalan Tun Razak, KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuchai Lama, Seri Kembangan and Cyberjaya.

A specific launch date for the 57.7km MRT2 line from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya will be announced once trial runs and system fine-tuning are completed. MRT2 which cost RM30.53 billion in terms of construction and systems installation, will cover 36 stations using 49 train sets operating at a frequency of five minutes each, is expected to have a ridership of 200,000 passengers a day within a year or two of its launch.
