On 20 March 2023, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group was announced as the recipient of the Selangor Business Excellence Award during the 2023 Selangor International Economic Summit. Held at the Le Méridien Petaling Jaya Hotel, the event was organised by KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific in association with the Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur.

Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport was present to receive the award on behalf of the company from Yang Berhormat Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Industry and Trade.

The Selangor Business Excellence Award is conferred to leading Selangor companies which have demonstrated business excellence and contributed to the business community and wider society through their corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Since the takeover of Northport by MMC in 2016, the port has embarked on a transformation journey called “Reinventing Northport” and established a new set of Core Values namely Integrity, Customer Focus, Innovation, Teamwork and Excellence (InCITE). The “Reinventing Northport” programme’s objective is to transform Northport into a “Safer, Greener, Smarter, Better” port which led to Northport’s achievements in the last three years in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the Summit, Dato’ Azman was also featured as one of the panel speakers in a session titled “Driving Smart Manufacturing in Selangor: Towards Green Production and Green Logistics”.

It is hoped that this recognition will further strengthen our commitment to enhance and improve our business operations, while we continue to nurture the culture of ‘excellence’ among all our employees,” said Dato’ Azman.
