On 6 March 2023, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, welcomed an inaugural official working visit from YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of International Trade & Industry (MITI) in conjunction with the launch of Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) 2024 at The Oasis, Johor Port.

The inaugural visit was also attended by YBhg Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Chairman of Johor Port, senior officers from MITI and various agencies under MITI such as Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF) and Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM).

Upon arrival at Johor Port, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and the delegation were provided with a comprehensive presentation by Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port on the Port’s milestones, operational performance, and ongoing development of Johor Port as Malaysia’s Premier Southern Gateway Multi-Purpose Port. The delegations were then taken for a tour around Johor Port to further understand the services and facilities provided by the Port.

The visit concluded with the launch of Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) 2024 by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz at The Oasis, Johor Port.
Johor Port was chosen as the Host after being conferred with the Prime Minister’s Award, the highest accolade at the AKI Award ceremony in November 2021.

Key stakeholders of Johor Port were also invited to the launching ceremony organised by MITI in order to promote and encourage participation from local companies to take part in the 2024 AKI exercise.
