JOHOR PORT AND MALDIVES PORTS LIMITED COLLABORATE TO ACHIEVE TOP-TIER PORT EXPERTISE

On 5 February 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), a commercial service provider managing Government-owned ports and port facilities in Maldives.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at Johor Port Board Room, with key members from both organisations present. Johor Port’s Chief Executive Officer, Md Derick Basir, representing Johor Port and witnessed by KC Low, Head of Corporate Affairs Division together with Ali Hashim, MPL’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer and witnessed by Aishath Neesha Khaleel, Head of Learning and Development Department, solidified a 5-year engagement with Johor Port’s training arm, JP Skills Centre. This commitment involves providing MPL with various training initiatives encompassing Port and Logistics Training, Employee Attachment Programs, Port Equipment Training, Professional Certificates and Professional Masters in Port Management, Seminars, Conferences and other mutually agreed-upon Programmes.

With the formalisation of this collaboration, MPL is looking forward to elevating its workforce to the pinnacle of port skills and competencies; ensuring optimal operational performance and maximum capacity output.

As part of the MoU signing, the MPL delegation enjoyed a guided port tour of Johor Port as well as visits to the University Technology of Malaysia and Port of Tanjung Pelepas.
