On 21 February 2024, the iconic Eastern & Oriental Express Train (E&O Express), made a grand stop in Butterworth, Penang, where it was warmly welcomed by Dato’ Sasedharan Vasudevan, Chief Executive Officer of Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port), along with Valentin Waldman, General Manager of E&O Express and Wolfgang Eipeldauer, Train Manager of E&O Express.

Building on a partnership established on 7 February 2024, E&O Express has collaborated with Penang Port to charter 36 ferry trips throughout 2024. These trips will connect E&O Express passengers between Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim in Butterworth and Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda in George Town. This journey makes it possible for the passengers to explore the UNESCO Heritage Site that is in George Town, Penang.

This collaboration not only reinforces Penang’s appeal as a premier tourist destination but also underscores the pivotal role played by Penang Port in facilitating seamless transportation solutions.
