NORTHPORT HOSTS 40th REGIMENT ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP
From 19 February to 4 March 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group hosted the 40th Regiment of the Royal Army Engineers Regiment or Rejimen Askar Jurutera Diraja (RAJD)’s Annual Training Camp, Series 1/2024.
A total of nine officers and 63 members of different ranks and files from Northport, Johor Port Berhad and Port Klang Authority participated in the training camp. The annual camp was inaugurated by Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport, who also serves as the Commanding Officer of the 40th Regiment of the Royal Army Engineers Regiment Port Specialist at Marine Base, Northport.
Throughout the two-week training camp, participants went through various military training activities, including marching, five-kilometre brisk walking and basic fitness tests, and technical training. The participants also had the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to Sinar Karangkraf, aimed at providing them with exposure to the media industry.
Towards the end of the programme, a shooting training session was conducted at Lapang Sasar Kem Sungai Besi to enhance the shooting skills of the 40th Regiment members. The closing session of the annual camp was graced by the Second-in-Command of the 40th Regiment of the Royal Army Engineers Regiment Port Specialist, Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Firdauz Jamaluddin.
RAJD is a combat support military unit of the Malaysian Army that provides combat engineering and other engineering support. The Specialist Regiment (Rejimen Pakar) is a volunteer reserve regiment and squadron of the Territorial Army Regiment (Rejimen Askar Wataniah). These units specialize in handling ports, waterworks, railways, power plants/electric supply and telecommunications. The port unit, also referred to as the 40th Regiment, is known as the Port Specialist Regiment.
The annual training camp is organised to provide the volunteers, who are also port employees, with military training and expose them to their roles and functions during emergencies or disasters.
