PORT OF TANJUNG PELEPAS EMBRACES RAMADAN SPIRIT, PREPARES AND DISTRIBUTES 2,000 BOWLS BUBUR LAMBUK TO THE NEEDY
On 21st March 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, continued the tradition of spreading goodwill by nourishing the underprivileged communities in and around Gelang Patah and Johor Bahru in this holy month of Ramadan.
More than 2,000 servings of steaming hot bubur lambuk, jointly prepped and cooked at the Kompleks Penghulu Tanjung Kupang in Gelang Patah by volunteers from PTP and local villages in the Tanjung Kupang subdistrict, were generously handed out to orphanages, senior citizen care centres, mosques as well as other community members.
Also present to lend a helping hand at this annual bubur lambuk distribution programme were Mark Hardiman, Chief Executive Officer of PTP, together with PTP’s Senior Management and several of its Head of Departments. The event, exuded a sense of community and charity, were witnessed by Yusof Ahmad, the official representative of Kota Iskandar Assemblyman and Mohamad Faiz Mohd Pandi, Head of Tanjung Kupang subdistrict.
This year’s bubur lambuk programme also featured a new competitive element, involving six teams representing the participating villages, where PTP’s volunteers collaborated with village members to prepare bubur lambuk using each village’s distinctive recipe, adding a unique flavour to the traditional dishes.
Meanwhile, the incorporation of eco-friendly food packaging is also aligned with PTP’s sustainability agenda in reducing plastic footprints and focusing on sustainable packaging solutions.
PTP has been conducting its Bubur Lambuk Distribution for more than 16 years, often with collaboration from various local community leaders and residents, with its primary aim to deliver necessary assistance and ease the burden of the needy in the communities that surround PTP.
PTP’s Corporate Social Investment framework focuses on three key areas: education, environment, and community development to uplift the lives of its surrounding communities.
