PTP Discusses Global Ports and Shipping Dynamics at LogiSYM Malaysia
On 19 and 20 June 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, participated in the logistics and supply chain conference, LogiSYM Malaysia 2024, held at Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur.
LogiSYM Malaysia 2024 brought together shippers, manufacturers, government representatives, regulators, NGOs, 3PLs, forwarders, logistics professionals, educators and technology solutions providers from and around Malaysia. The symposium aimed to explore and leverage the tremendous growth opportunities in the on-going supply chain industry.
On 20 June, Mark Hardiman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PTP, featured in a special panel discussion titled “Ports and Rails”, where he shared his insights on the resilience of today’s supply chains, explaining how shipping lines and ports manage high demand for capacity. He also highlighted the importance of ESG for ports, the role of technology and digitisation, as well as the global and regional developments impacting shipping networks. Mark illustrated these points with examples from PTP’s achievements and successes.
The discussion was moderated by Dr Marco Tieman, CEO of LBB International. Also participated in the panel were Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, CEO of Northport (Malaysia) Bhd; Mazlim Husin, CEO of Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd and Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, Group CEO of Kumpulan Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).
LogiSYM is the collaborative platform of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Society, Asia’s premier peer-to-peer members-only logistics practitioners association. The symposium bridges the gap between supply chain concepts and technology, and real-world implementation. It also showcases the benefits generated from increased supply chain pipeline velocity, profitability and performance, and offers networking opportunities, enabling delegates to acquire actionable takeaways.
