JOHOR PORT TEST READINESS ON BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLAN

On 7 November 2023, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group conducted a fire drill and Business Continuity Plan exercise code named FXB 2023 at BBT’s Office, Warehouse 3E, Johor Port. The exercise was organised by Johor Port’s Corporate Planning and Risk Management Department (CPRM), Bulk and Breakbulk Department (BBT) and Port Security and Safety Department (PSSD).

The exercise aims to test the employees’ familiarisation and readiness as well as to educate BBT’s employees on the Emergency Response Plan and execution of the Department’s Business Continuity Plan during the crisis. The exercise also exposes the employees to responding to different scenarios and situations during emergency or adverse situations as it is part of disaster management to measure the preparedness and readiness of all safety-related personnel.

During the exercise, Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port acted as Chairman of the Crisis Management Team (CMT) and activated the CMT and BBT Business Continuity Plan together with the Heads of Departments. MMC Group Risk Management, Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Senai International Airport and Johor Port Authority personnel were also invited to the exercise as observers.

Such exercise promotes awareness of responding to any emergency and actions to be taken during the execution of the Department’s Business Continuity Plan. It is aimed towards cultivating a safety culture among employees during day-to-day operations and for continual improvement of BBT’s Business Continuity Plan.
