JOHOR PORT AND PTP PARTICIPATE IN KARNIVAL LPJ 2023

From 15 to 17 December 2023, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port) and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), members of MMC Group, participated in the annual Karnival LPJ 2023, organised by Johor Port Authority (JPA).

This year, the carnival was held with the theme ‘Gerbang Selatan Malaysia Memperkasakan Komuniti’. The chosen theme reflects the strengthening relationship between the ports and community, aiming for a more balanced and sustainable future ecosystem.

Throughout the three-day carnival, Johor Port and PTP took part in diverse activities including the Ports of Johor Treasure Hunt, Night Fun Run, Career Booth and Port Tour. Additionally, the event featured exhibitions from various agencies, sales booths showcasing small and medium industries products, health awareness programme, coloring contest, recycling fashion shows as well as celebrity performances by Ronnie Hussein, Halim Ahmad, Hazama and Ella.

In addition to the above activities, PTP and Johor Port also participated in the booth exhibitions where they showcased their offerings. This included providing an interactive virtual tour and collecting CVs of potential candidates for roles within Johor Port and PTP. The closing ceremony held on 17 December 2023 was officiated by Dato’ Asman Shah Abd Rahman, Mayor of Pasir Gudang accompanied by Rosnan Fathlal, Chairman of JPA and Dato’ Monaliza Suhaimi, the General Manager of JPA.

During the closing ceremony, Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP was welcomed on stage to receive a special JPA CSR sponsorship worth RM270,000 for PTP’s Young Talent Development Programme – Port Equipment Technician Apprentice (PETech). Edwin Gerard, Head of Operations Division of Johor Port was also present during the ceremony together with other dignitaries from various stakeholders.

The participation of Johor Port and PTP in this programme was part of the ports’ stakeholder engagement initiative aimed to strengthen relationships with Government agencies, industry stakeholders and local communities.
